Financial Resources
Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization is funded entirely from the lawful sources set out in its constitution. This page explains where our money comes from, the rules that govern its use, and what we do to make sure it is accounted for; the companion page on where your money goes covers the other direction. Registration under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961 is in process.
Our Sources of Funds
Membership Fees
Members pay a prescribed fee under the constitution. Membership income is modest by design, but it matters: it is unrestricted, it is renewed by people who live in our area of operation, and it means the organisation is partly funded by the community it serves rather than only by outsiders.
Voluntary Donations and Charitable Contributions
Donations from individuals in Pakistan and abroad are our largest source of income. They may be given as unrestricted gifts or restricted to a stated cause, and may include Zakat, which is held and disbursed separately. Donations are recognised only after verification against our bank records, and a receipt is issued to the donor.
Grants From Government, National and International Organizations
Our constitution provides for grants from government departments, including those of the Government of Sindh, and from national and international organizations. We will apply for grants that fit our stated aims and our capacity, accept the reporting conditions attached to them, and decline funding that would require PHWO to act outside its constitution or to compromise its non-political, non-sectarian character.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Contributions
Companies operating in Sindh and nationally can fund a defined programme through CSR: a cohort of freelancing trainees, a series of medical camps, a school support package or a plantation drive. CSR partners receive a written scope, a budget, and a report on delivery and expenditure. We do not offer political favour, endorsement of products or any benefit inconsistent with our status.
Fundraising Campaigns and Community Support
We will run public fundraising campaigns for specific, costed objectives, and accept community support in cash and in kind, including venues, equipment, medicines, teaching time and professional services. In-kind contributions are recorded in our books in the same way as cash.
Income From Lawful Activities
PHWO may generate income from lawful activities consistent with its aims. Any such income belongs to the organisation and is applied to its objectives; it is never distributed to members.
Other Lawful Sources
Our constitution permits any other lawful source of funds. Whatever the source, the same rules apply: it must be lawful, it must be recorded, and it must be used only for our stated aims.
Rules That Govern Every Rupee
- Funds are used solely for the aims and objectives of the organisation. No part of PHWO’s income or property may be applied for the personal benefit of any member.
- Proper books of accounts are maintained for all income and expenditure, with supporting documents retained at the registered office.
- Restricted gifts are ring-fenced. One hundred per cent of a donation given for a stated cause is used for that cause and recorded against it.
- Zakat is kept separately and disbursed only to eligible recipients in accordance with Shariah. It is never used for administrative costs.
- Nothing is counted until it is verified. Pledges become income only once the payment is confirmed against our bank and wallet records. The State Bank of Pakistan publishes information on the bank and wallet transfer channels used in Pakistan.
- Administrative costs are met from unrestricted funds, membership fees and grants, and are disclosed rather than concealed.
Annual Accounts
Our annual account and audited statement are published once each financial year closes, and not before the figures in them are verified. We will not present projections as results. Once our first programmes have run, we will publish an activity and financial report for that period showing income by source and expenditure by programme, and we will report annually thereafter.
