It takes about 2 minutes, in three short steps. Lawyers, doctors and teachers are needed most. Every volunteer receives a PHWO certificate of volunteer service and a letter of appreciation. What each role involves is explained below the form.
Why volunteer with PHWO
Families across Pakistan write to us every day asking for help with food, medical bills, school fees and legal problems. Volunteers are how that help reaches them. You give your skill and your time; we connect you with the people who need it, close to your home or online.
You will see where your effort goes. There is no long chain between the work you do and the family it reaches. Read more about volunteering that actually helps.

Roles we need
Lawyers and law students — most needed
Many people who come to us cannot afford a lawyer: a son held without bail, a mother trying to get maintenance for her children, a family losing its home in an inheritance dispute. Advocates can give free advice or take a case through our Free Legal Aid service. Law students and paralegals can help with forms, affidavits and follow-up. You can help online or in your own city, and you choose how many cases you take.
Doctors and health workers
Doctors (female doctors especially), dentists, pharmacists, nurses, paramedics, lady health workers, counsellors and medical students for check-ups, advice, medical camps and health awareness.
Teachers and tutors
Teachers, graduates and senior students for extra classes, adult and female literacy, and help for students at risk of leaving school. Women teachers are especially needed for women-only classes.
Computer and freelancing trainers
Freelancers, designers, video editors, writers, developers and digital marketers to teach our digital skills programme and mentor trainees. This can be done fully online, from anywhere in Pakistan or abroad.
Skills trainers
Electricians, solar installers, tailors, mobile repair technicians and other skilled people willing to train young people or women in a trade.
Field and relief volunteers
People who know their own area: visiting families, checking needs, helping at distributions and camps, and supporting relief work in floods and emergencies.
Online and office help
Social media, design and video; IT and websites; records, data entry and accounts; fundraising and partnerships; and translation between Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto and English.
What we ask of volunteers
- Honesty. What is written down must be what happened.
- No politics, no sect. Help is decided on need alone.
- Respect. Dignity, privacy and consent for the people we serve, especially when taking photos.
- Child safety. Anyone working with children follows our Child Protection Policy.
- Be realistic. Two reliable hours a week is worth more than ten promised and missed.
What you can expect from us
- A clear briefing on the work you are matched to.
- Guidance on conduct and safeguarding before field work.
- One person to contact with your questions.
- A certificate of volunteer service, signed and stamped, with a number anyone can check at phwo.org/verify-certificate.
- A letter of appreciation for the work you have done.
- An experience letter on request — useful for your CV, university and job applications.
- Real experience in your field: legal, medical, teaching, field work, media and more.
- No pressure to donate. Volunteering and giving are completely separate.
Volunteer from anywhere
You do not need to live near our office. Lawyers giving advice, trainers, mentors, writers, translators and designers can all help online. Pakistanis living abroad are very welcome.
