Our first priority

Women and Girls First

Women and girls are PHWO's first priority in every service. We aim to direct at least 75% of our support to women and girls β€” and every service is free.

Why women and girls come first

In Pakistan, many women and girls face extra barriers: fewer chances to study or earn, less say over money and property, difficulty reaching health care, and slow or costly routes to justice in family and inheritance matters. When a woman is helped, the whole household usually benefits β€” her children, her parents and her community.

That is why PHWO’s owner and team decided that women and girls come first, from every angle and in every project: the work running now, and everything we start in future.

For reliable national figures, see UN Women β€” Pakistan and the World Bank Gender Data Portal β€” Pakistan. We do not publish our own numbers until our records can support them.

Safety and privacy for women

  • A woman to help you, if you prefer. You can ask for a female staff member, volunteer, teacher or advocate. We arrange one where one is available.
  • Private chat, not your phone number. You talk to PHWO and to your volunteer through private chat in your free PHWO account.
  • Your contact details are never shared. We do not give your phone number, email or address to volunteers or other users.
  • Nothing is published. What you tell us stays confidential and is used only to help you.
  • Always free. No one acting for PHWO will ever ask you for money.

Need help? Tell us what you need. Requests from women and girls are looked at first.

Our commitment

Women and girls are PHWO’s first priority. We aim to direct at least 75% of our support to women and girls. This is a goal and a policy we work towards, not a figure we are claiming has already been reached.

Inside our system, cases from women are placed at the top of our staff queues, and women and girls are given priority when we match learners and people who need help with volunteers. Our staff see a live view of how close we are to the goal.
