How to give from abroad, step by step

  1. Choose your gift on the Donate page: Zakat, Sadaqah, a general donation or a programme.
  2. Send it from your own bank as an international payment to PHWO’s bank account in Pakistan. Copy the account details from the Donate page only — never from a message or a social media post.
  3. Upload proof on the same page, or write the transaction reference, so the transfer can be matched with the bank record.
  4. Receive a numbered receipt by email once the transfer is confirmed.

PHWO’s registration is in process, so donations are received in the name of the organisation’s founding member and recorded against your donation reference, as the Donate page explains. Your bank converts your currency into rupees; ask it about the rate and any fees before you send.

The Dallas–Fort Worth area, from Irving and Richardson to Plano, Carrollton and Arlington, has a large and growing Pakistani community with busy mosques and community centres. For DFW residents thinking about where this year’s zakat should go, Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO) is one way to reach families back in Pakistan, and this page walks through it.

Run mostly by volunteers, PHWO works only in Pakistan, from a single office in Larkana, and has nobody in Texas. Your gift leaves your own account and goes straight to it; families never pay for PHWO’s help.

Choosing where your zakat goes

You may already give to a mosque or a local zakat fund in DFW. If you also want to reach Pakistan, the most important thing is to know who receives your gift and how it is checked. Requests reach PHWO from all over Pakistan and are checked one by one; help follows only where a real need is confirmed. Zakat stays in its own fund, untouched by overheads, and other gifts back the programmes that need them most.

How to give from Dallas

Go to the Donate page and choose Zakat, Sadaqah, a general donation or a programme. Send an international wire from your US bank to the account details on that page. Your bank converts dollars into rupees; wire fees and rates differ, so ask before you confirm.

Giving online through the year

Not all giving needs to wait for Ramadan. Many donors send Sadaqah monthly, or pay zakat on the anniversary of their zakat year. Our guide to giving Sadaqah online to Pakistan explains how to give regularly and how Sadaqah Jariyah works.

Thinking bigger

As noted below, a US tax deduction is not available for gifts to PHWO, though each one is receipted. If you are thinking about a larger gift — equipment, a vehicle, a waqf or a legacy — see Ways to give and use the enquiry form there.

Want to give something other than money? Ways to give covers equipment, vehicles, waqf and legacies. If you know a family in Pakistan who needs help, they can request help online or ask for free legal aid, both free. You can check what PHWO publishes on transparency, and when you are ready, give through the Donate page.
