The Kuwaiti dinar is one of the strongest currencies in the world, so even a modest gift converts into a meaningful sum in rupees. If you plan to donate to Pakistan from Kuwait, this page walks through how Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO) receives money from abroad and what it does with zakat and sadaqah.
PHWO’s one and only office is in Larkana, Sindh. It has no branch, agent or volunteer collecting money in Kuwait City, Farwaniya, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh or anywhere else in the country. Families across Pakistan who come to it for help are never charged anything.
Who asks PHWO for help
People write in from Karachi’s crowded neighbourhoods, from villages in the Seraiki belt of southern Punjab, from mountain towns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and from the deserts of Balochistan. The three most frequent requests are for groceries, for help repaying debt, and for a laptop or smartphone needed for study or earning. After those come hospital costs, fees, rent arrears and losses from fire or flood.
Every applicant supplies a live photo. Volunteers review the file and may call the family. Where the facts stand up and something practical can be done, a response is organised. No one hears in advance that it will.
Zakat and sadaqah: how the funds are handled
PHWO runs zakat as a closed fund. It is given only to those entitled to zakat under Shariah and is never spent on administration. Sadaqah is logged on its own and reaches deserving people without deduction. You can see the organisation’s eight working areas under Programmes, and read how money is used on the where-your-money-goes page linked from Donate. To support one verified household, visit Sponsor a case.
Payment routes when you donate to Pakistan from Kuwait
PHWO does not accept card payments or PayPal. You can choose from these:
- International wire transfer from a Kuwaiti bank. Exchange companies that credit Pakistani bank accounts work just as well.
- Payments inside Pakistan by bank transfer to PHWO’s UBL account, sent by yourself or a relative who banks in Pakistan.
- In-kind donations left at the Larkana office.
The money lands in rupees. Your bank or exchange company converts your dinars, and its rate and fee affect how much arrives, so ask first. Account details are published only on the donate page; do not rely on copies passed around in group chats. After sending, submit the confirmation form there. Once PHWO’s records show your payment, a numbered receipt is emailed to you.
Kuwait is two hours behind Pakistan. A message sent from your PHWO account before your working day starts will reach Larkana by mid-morning.
Choosing when to pay zakat
Your zakat falls due when a full lunar year passes on wealth above nisab. Ramadan is a popular choice among Pakistanis in Kuwait, but it is not required. The Zakat calculator lets you add up savings, gold and silver jewellery, investments and business goods. If you keep part of your savings in Pakistan, include that too. Because the dinar is valued so highly, small rounding differences when converting can change the result, so convert carefully. Send fitrana early enough to be distributed before Eid prayer; banks and exchange houses close for Eid.
Checking an appeal before you give
Kuwait regulates charitable collections, and PHWO does not collect there. You are simply sending your own money privately to Pakistan; ask your bank if you have questions about your position.
Online, especially in group chats, emotional appeals are sometimes fake. Before paying anyone, check that the account belongs to an organisation, not a person; that there is a real address you can verify; and that you are not being hurried. PHWO is based at House 704/C, Lahori Muhalla, Larkana, and its paperwork for registration as a welfare agency in Pakistan is being processed.
Volunteering: fundraisers abroad are welcome
You can help PHWO without spending a fils of your own. It looks for fundraisers abroad who can explain its work to friends and colleagues and send them to the official donate page. Please avoid collecting cash from others. A simple message with the link and a few lines about why you trust the organisation is often enough; people like to give on their own terms, and paying directly keeps everything transparent. Some supporters in Kuwait choose one week in Ramadan to remind their friends, which helps without becoming a burden on anyone. Pakistan-based advocates handle all legal aid, so that role cannot be done from Kuwait. Sign up at Volunteer and you will be given a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.
Services your relatives in Pakistan can use
Sometimes the most useful thing you can do from abroad is tell your own family about free services. A cousin facing a maintenance or custody dispute can apply for Free legal aid; no FIR is needed to ask. A household struggling with rent or school fees can use Request help. Families looking for a spouse for their children can register with the Rishta Desk, which costs nothing, serves people of every religion and checks each profile with a live selfie and a PHWO staff review, with families deciding everything themselves and no match assured.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use an exchange company in Kuwait?
Yes, if it sends to Pakistani bank accounts. Use the account details from PHWO's donate page and keep the receipt reference.
Is there a PHWO office in Kuwait?
No. The only office is in Larkana. PHWO has no agent or collector in Kuwait.
Why does my rupee amount change each month?
Exchange rates between the dinar and the rupee move daily. PHWO does not take a cut from donations.
Can a group of friends in Kuwait send one combined gift?
They can, but it is better for each person to send and confirm their own amount, so that every donor receives a receipt and zakat is recorded correctly for each.
Can I pay fitrana for my family in Pakistan?
Yes. Send it well before Eid and mark it as fitrana or sadaqah when you confirm.
