Free help for families in Qatar

A Doha Payslip, a Family in Pakistan: How Qatar-Based Pakistanis Can Give

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Salary day in Doha often means a trip to the bank or exchange counter to send money home. Some people also want to set aside something for households they have never met. This page is for anyone who wants to donate to Pakistan from Qatar through Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO), a welfare group run by volunteers from a single office in Larkana, Sindh.

PHWO has nobody in Qatar. No office in Doha, no agent in Al Wakrah, no collector at the Industrial Area. If a person asks you for cash in its name, they are not acting for it. For the families in Pakistan who ask it for help, every service is free.

Sending a gift from Doha, method by method

Card payments and PayPal are not available. According to the Donate page, gifts come in through:

  1. International wire transfer from a Qatari bank account to PHWO’s rupee account in Pakistan. A licensed exchange house that credits Pakistani bank accounts may also work.
  2. A Pakistani bank transfer to PHWO’s UBL account, if you or a family member has a bank account in Pakistan.
  3. Useful goods handed in at the Larkana office.

Everything is received in rupees, so the conversion from riyals happens at your bank or exchange house. Ask about their rate and fee before you press send. Copy the beneficiary details directly from the donate page, then fill in its confirmation form. A numbered receipt is emailed when the transfer has been matched with PHWO’s statement.

Doha is two hours behind Pakistan. If you message PHWO from your PHWO account at 9 in the morning your time, it is 11 in Larkana.

The families your money can reach

Requests reach PHWO from every corner of Pakistan. Recent types include a daily-wage labourer in Faisalabad facing eviction, a nursing student in Hyderabad without fees, and a household in Swat that lost belongings in a flood. Each applicant sends a live photo. Volunteers look into the details and, if the case is real and help is feasible, make arrangements. Nothing is ever promised in advance.

Its fields of work, from schooling to disaster relief, are set out under Programmes. Donors who want to follow one particular household can use Sponsor a case.

Zakat kept apart, sadaqah passed on whole

Many people worry that zakat given to an organisation ends up paying for rent and salaries. At PHWO it cannot: zakat is recorded in a separate fund, paid only to people who qualify for it, and never used for running costs. Sadaqah also has its own fund and reaches people in need in full. When you confirm your transfer, say which one it is.

Timing your zakat around Ramadan in Qatar

Ramadan in Qatar brings shorter working hours and many charity drives. If your zakat anniversary falls in that month, work out what you owe with the Zakat calculator. Add savings in riyals and rupees in one currency, together with gold, silver and any business stock. Aim to send fitrana a week or more before Eid, since banks close for the holidays in both countries. You are free to pay zakat at any other time of year too; there is no need to wait for Ramadan if your year ends earlier.

Donate to Pakistan from Qatar safely

Public fundraising in Qatar is controlled by the authorities, and PHWO holds no permission to raise funds there and does not try to. What you do is send your own money from your own account, a private act; your bank can advise on any rules.

With any appeal, from any organisation, pause before paying if:

  • the account is in an individual’s name rather than an organisation’s;
  • you are rushed or made to feel guilty;
  • you cannot find a real address.

PHWO’s single address is House 704/C, Lahori Muhalla, Larkana. It is not registered in Qatar, and its registration as a social welfare agency in Pakistan is still being processed.

Volunteer from Qatar as a fundraiser

Fundraisers living outside Pakistan are one of PHWO’s biggest needs, second only to lawyers inside the country. You can share its work with colleagues, your camp or accommodation group, or friends from your home district, and direct them to the donate page. Everyone should pay directly; please do not take money from others to pass on. Legal cases are handled only by advocates practising in Pakistan. Join through Volunteer; you will receive a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.

What to write when you confirm a transfer

A clear confirmation saves everyone time. When you fill in the form on the donate page, include:

  • your full name as it appears on the sending account;
  • the amount sent and the date;
  • the bank or exchange house reference number;
  • whether the money is zakat, sadaqah, fitrana or a general gift;
  • if relevant, the case you wish to sponsor.

If the credited rupee amount differs slightly from what you expected, it is usually the exchange rate or a correspondent bank charge. PHWO does not deduct a fee from gifts. If a receipt has not arrived after your transfer shows as complete, email info@phwo.org with the reference and a volunteer will look into it.

Keep your own copy of the bank slip. It is helpful for your personal zakat record, and it lets you trace the payment if anything goes wrong between banks.

Frequently asked questions

Which banks in Qatar can I use?

Any bank or licensed exchange house that sends transfers to a Pakistani bank account. Take the beneficiary details from PHWO's own website.

Can I pay PHWO with a Qatari debit card?

No. It does not take card payments. Use a transfer instead.

Does PHWO have a collector in Doha?

No. PHWO has no office, agent or volunteer authorised to collect cash in Qatar.

Can I send my zakat to a specific family?

Yes. Sponsor a case lists households whose requests have been checked, and zakat can be directed to eligible ones.

How will I know my money arrived?

After you submit the confirmation form, PHWO matches your transfer against its bank record and emails you a numbered receipt.
