Hill Torrents and River Floods: Finding an NGO in Rajanpur That Listens

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Rajanpur is the last district in Punjab’s south-west, where the province touches both Balochistan and Sindh. The Indus runs along one side of it and the Koh-e-Suleman range rises on the other. Water is both its blessing and its danger: the river floods from one side, and in heavy rain the hill torrents rush down from the mountains on the other. The district’s own government describes floods here as happening almost every year. Families in Rajanpur, Jampur and Rojhan who have lost crops, homes or health often search for an NGO in Rajanpur.

PHWO, which stands for Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization, is run by volunteers, open to every sect and faith, and free for families in every province. PHWO has no office, relief camp or staff in Rajanpur district. The only office is in Larkana, Sindh, in neighbouring Sindh. People here reach PHWO online, through Message PHWO in a free PHWO account, or by email to info@phwo.org .

Rajanpur district in the census

The 2023 Census counted 2,381,049 people in Rajanpur District, which covers 12,318 square kilometres, one of the largest areas of any Punjab district. It has three tehsils, Rajanpur, Jampur and Rojhan, plus a de-excluded hill area (the former tribal area) with 41,741 people. About 27% of the district is urban, and the towns are growing fast: the urban population nearly doubled, from 337,296 in 2017 to 631,223 in 2023.

Rojhan, in the far south, is the least urban tehsil, with only about 3% living in towns. Saraiki is widely spoken, and Baloch tribes live across the district and in the hills.

Floods from the mountains and the river

The district administration’s flood page records an average of 293 mm of rain across Rajanpur between January and late August 2022, with 457 mm in the tribal area, and notes that flood severity and frequency here have become unpredictable (District Rajanpur). In 2022 the hill torrents coming down from Koh-e-Suleman flooded large parts of the district. In August 2025 the Indus again flooded low-lying areas across southern Punjab, including Rajanpur (Dawn).

If floods have damaged your home, crops or animals, describe the loss in your request and add photos. For official relief, stay in touch with the Deputy Commissioner and PDMA Punjab.

Financial help in Rajanpur

A family from Rajanpur, Jampur, Rojhan or the hills can use Request help to ask for food, medicine, fees, rent, help with a loan, a student laptop, or support after a hill torrent or river flood. Add a live photo of yourself, and explain your need in Saraiki, Balochi, Urdu or any language you speak easily.

Volunteers confirm the facts and then assess the need. Support is arranged only where a genuine need can be met. There is no promise about the result or the time, and asking never costs money.

Free legal aid in Rajanpur

Rajanpur city has the sessions court, Jampur and Rojhan have civil and family judges, and appeals go up to the Lahore High Court’s Multan Bench. River land that changes with every flood, inheritance, tenancy and family cases are the usual reasons people need a lawyer.

Describe your problem on the free legal aid page; you do not have to lodge an FIR first. Custody matters and hearings only days away are read first. Representation is possible only when a volunteer advocate is free, so it is not guaranteed.

Public services in Rajanpur district

State services include District Headquarters Hospital Rajanpur and THQ hospitals at Jampur and Rojhan. Rescue 1122 carries out rescues during hill torrents and river floods, and answers crashes on the Indus Highway. Police respond on 15; women can call 1043. The BISP office in each tehsil pays Kafaalat, the District Zakat Committee Rajanpur runs government Zakat, and the District Bar Association Rajanpur can guide you to an advocate.

Distance, schools and health

Villages in Rojhan and in the hills can be many hours from a hospital, and roads may be cut during floods. For a pregnant woman or a sick child, that distance can be dangerous. Schools, especially for girls, are fewer and further apart than in central Punjab. If distance and cost are keeping a child out of school or a patient from treatment, you can describe this in a request for fees, study support or medical help. PHWO’s programmes cover health, education and emergency relief among eight areas.
