Free help for families in Oman

Muscat, Sohar, Salalah: Supporting Families Across Pakistan While You Work in Oman

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Oman and Pakistan share a long coastline across the Arabian Sea, and families from Makran, Karachi, Punjab and the north have worked in the Sultanate for generations. If you would like to donate to Pakistan from Oman and help people beyond your own relatives, Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO) offers a straightforward route.

PHWO is a Pakistani welfare body, largely volunteer-run, whose only premises are in Larkana, Sindh. It has no presence of any kind in Oman: no office, no agent and no one authorised to take cash. The people it helps inside Pakistan never pay for anything.

Stories behind the requests

A fisherman’s family in Gwadar whose boat engine failed. A college girl in Larkana who cannot pay her exam fee. An old man in Sargodha whose son’s death left the family with hospital debts. These are the kinds of situations people describe when they write to PHWO. Each applicant attaches a live photo, and volunteers go through the file carefully. If the details are sound and help can realistically be given, the family is supported. PHWO does not make promises to anyone before that point.

Requests arrive from Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir alike.

Where zakat goes, and where it never goes

Zakat has strict rules about who may receive it, and PHWO follows them. Zakat is booked into its own account, paid out only to eligible people, and not used for any running cost at all. Sadaqah is also kept separately and reaches needy people undivided.

For a view of PHWO’s fields of work, from education and health to digital skills and emergency relief, see Programmes. If you would like to pick a specific family whose request has been looked into, go to Sponsor a case.

Sending rials: the routes PHWO accepts

There is no online card payment and no PayPal. The Donate page names these options:

  • International wire transfer from an Omani bank account. Licensed exchange houses in Oman that pay into Pakistani bank accounts are another way of doing the same thing.
  • Local Pakistani transfers to the UBL account, if you or a relative has a Pakistani bank account.
  • Goods in kind brought to the Larkana office on your next visit home.

PHWO’s account is in rupees. The Omani rial is converted by your bank or exchange house, which sets the rate and any fee, so compare before sending. Take PHWO’s account details from its website only. When the transfer has left your account, let PHWO know through the form provided there. A volunteer ties it to the incoming credit, and a numbered receipt follows by email.

Oman is one hour behind Pakistan, so messaging PHWO from your PHWO account during your normal day is easy. If your shift runs through the night at a port or plant, a message sent through the contact form at any hour will be read when volunteers are available, and you can mention the best time to call you back.

Ramadan and zakat for Pakistanis in Oman

Many donors in Oman settle their zakat during Ramadan, but your zakat year may end in any month. Add up your cash, savings, gold, silver and trade goods with the Zakat calculator, converting everything into one currency first. Fitrana is meant to reach people before Eid prayer; with public holidays in Oman and Pakistan, send it well ahead. Write in your confirmation whether each amount is zakat, fitrana or general sadaqah, so it goes into the right fund.

Donate to Pakistan from Oman without risk

Oman controls who may raise money from the public, and PHWO neither holds nor seeks any Omani fundraising permit. A donor sending personal money from their own account to Pakistan is making a private transfer; your bank can explain the rules if you are unsure.

Protect yourself with any appeal you receive:

  • Be suspicious if the payee is a private person or personal mobile wallet.
  • Look for a real, checkable address, and search the organisation’s name online to see whether the details match.
  • Walk away from pressure and deadlines.

PHWO’s address is House 704/C, Lahori Muhalla, Larkana. Its registration in Pakistan as a voluntary welfare agency is being processed, and it has no registration in Oman.

Raising support from Oman

PHWO’s greatest volunteer needs are lawyers inside Pakistan and fundraisers both at home and overseas. From Oman you can fill the second role: talk to colleagues, fellow worshippers or your home-district association and point them to the official donate page. Please never accept money from others to forward, and never describe yourself as PHWO’s representative. Advocates in Pakistan handle the legal aid work. Sign up through Volunteer; each volunteer is given a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.

Help that costs your family nothing

Your relatives in Pakistan may benefit from PHWO too. Request help is open to households in hardship anywhere in the country. Women and men facing family disputes can ask for Free legal aid from volunteer advocates without first filing an FIR. The Rishta Desk helps families look for a match at no cost, for any faith, with a live selfie check and a PHWO staff review of each profile, with the final choice always resting with the family and nothing promised.

Public services in Oman you can also use

These are public or independent services, listed to help you. They are not part of PHWO.

Frequently asked questions

No, PHWO does not take card payments. Send a transfer from an Omani bank or exchange house to the account listed on its donate page.

Does PHWO work in Gwadar and Makran?

PHWO accepts requests from all of Pakistan, including Balochistan's coast, through its website, PHWO account messages and volunteers, though it keeps no office by the sea; its only office is in Larkana.
