Free help for families in Hafizabad

Rice Fields, River Floods and an NGO in Hafizabad You Can Reach Online

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Hafizabad lies in the heart of Punjab’s rice belt, between the Chenab and the motorway. Basmati paddy fills its fields every summer, and the rice mills of Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian give seasonal work to many local families. But when the Chenab overflows or prices fall, small farmers and mill labourers feel it first, and many start looking for an NGO in Hafizabad that will hear them out.

PHWO (Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization) is a volunteer effort that takes up families’ requests nationwide and never asks for payment. Nowhere in Hafizabad or Pindi Bhattian will you find a PHWO office, camp or local worker. PHWO’s only office is in Larkana, Sindh, and people in this district reach it online, a call or the website.

Hafizabad district in the census

Census 2023 put the population at 1,319,909 in Hafizabad District, one of the smaller districts of central Punjab. It has two tehsils: Hafizabad, with about 761,000 people, and Pindi Bhattian, with about 559,000. Around 38% of the district is urban. Punjabi is the mother tongue of roughly 96% of residents.

Paddy, wheat and fodder cover most fields, and milk sales matter to most village homes. Many young men work in Gujranwala, Lahore or the Gulf.

The Chenab flood of 2025

When the Chenab rose in late August 2025, Dawn listed 45 villages in Hafizabad district as submerged (Dawn). Aaj News described settlements under water around Head Qadirabad (Aaj News). For a rice farmer, a flood at that time of year can destroy a whole season’s paddy just weeks before harvest.

If flood losses are part of your story, include photos in your request. State compensation surveys are run through the Hafizabad DC office and PDMA Punjab, so get your name listed there too.

Rice mill workers and small farmers

Work in a rice mill is seasonal. For a few months there are long shifts; the rest of the year there may be nothing. Families borrow to get through the gap and repay when the next season comes. Small farmers borrow from arhtis for seed and fertiliser. When a flood, a fall in price or an illness breaks that cycle, debts grow quickly.

If you are caught in this kind of debt, explain it plainly when you apply: who you owe, how much, and why.

Financial help in Hafizabad

Requests go through the Request help page. Rice-belt families can request groceries, medical costs, fees, rent, help with a loan, a laptop, or cover for flood losses. Add a clear live photo of yourself, and explain your circumstances.

Volunteers confirm the facts first and assess the need second. Where a verified need can be met, help is arranged. PHWO does not guarantee any result and does not give time frames. Applying is always free.

Free legal aid in Hafizabad

The sessions court sits in Hafizabad city and Pindi Bhattian has civil and family judges; appeals from both go up to the Lahore High Court. Common issues are land partition, family disputes, maintenance and custody. Disputes over who owns or rents a piece of paddy land can also turn bitter after a flood, when boundaries and water channels have been washed away.

Explain your case on the free legal aid page. No FIR is needed. Custody cases, and anyone with a hearing close at hand, are read first. Representation depends on an advocate’s free time, so it is never certain.

Help from government services

Hafizabad’s public services are a useful first stop. District Headquarters Hospital Hafizabad treats most serious cases, and Pindi Bhattian has a THQ hospital close to the motorway. Rescue 1122 responds to motorway and road crashes, fires and river emergencies around Qadirabad. For police, call 15; women in danger can dial 1043. Families enrolled in Kafaalat are paid through the BISP office of their tehsil, government Zakat runs through the District Zakat Committee Hafizabad, and the District Bar Association Hafizabad can help you locate an advocate.

Donate or volunteer from Hafizabad

You can support families in Hafizabad through Donate, giving money or goods from Pakistan or abroad. Zakat and Sadaqah are passed in full to people in need. Check your Zakat with the Zakat calculator, and choose Sponsor a case if you want to back one verified family.

If you are an advocate in Hafizabad or Pindi Bhattian, or a fundraiser in Pakistan or overseas, please join through the volunteer page. These are the volunteers PHWO needs most. Each volunteer receives a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.

Women who keep the household going

In the villages around Hafizabad and Jalalpur Bhattian, it is usually women who look after the buffaloes, sell milk to the collector and stretch the household budget. When an animal dies of disease, or a husband falls ill or leaves, a woman may suddenly have no income and small children to feed. Widows, divorced mothers and wives of disabled men in Hafizabad may all apply under their own names. Requests can cover groceries, children’s fees, treatment or a way to earn again, such as a buffalo calf or a sewing machine. Women’s empowerment and vocational training are both part of PHWO’s programmes. As with every request, it is verified and assessed first, and there is no promise of support.

Rishta Desk

Hafizabad households of any religion can use the Rishta Desk without charge. Profiles are checked with a live selfie and reviewed by PHWO staff. The families decide, and nothing is assured.
