Glasgow’s Pakistani community, centred on the South Side in areas such as Pollokshields and Govanhill, is the largest in Scotland. Many families here give zakat through local mosques and also want part of it to reach Pakistan. This page explains how a donor in Glasgow can give Zakat or Sadaqah to Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO).
PHWO’s only office is in Larkana, Sindh. It has no office, agent or collector in Glasgow or anywhere in Scotland, so every gift goes directly from your own bank. The help PHWO gives families in Pakistan is free.
Checking a charity in Scotland
Scotland has its own charity regulator, the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), which keeps the register for charities based or active in Scotland. It is a good first stop for any local appeal. PHWO will not appear there: it is a Pakistani organisation, and its registration under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961 is in process. You can read its transparency page and governance page before you give.
How to give from Glasgow
Choose your gift — Zakat, Sadaqah, a general donation or a programme — on the Donate page. Then send an international payment from your UK bank to the account details shown there. Your bank converts pounds into rupees; rates and fees differ between banks, so compare before you confirm.
Ramadan, Eid and the time difference
Pakistan is five hours ahead of Glasgow in winter and four hours in summer, so a message sent after work in Scotland arrives late at night in Larkana. If you are sending Fitrana, send it early in Ramadan so it can reach people before Eid prayer; international payments can take several working days. The Zakat calculator helps you work out what you owe.
Where your gift goes
Zakat is kept separate and given only to eligible people; none of it pays for running costs. General gifts support our programmes, including education, health and emergency relief. Each request is checked before help is arranged, and no outcome is promised in advance. See where your money goes.

Want to give something other than money? Ways to give covers equipment, vehicles, waqf and legacies. If you know a family in Pakistan who needs help, they can request help online or ask for free legal aid, both free. You can check what PHWO publishes on transparency, and when you are ready, give through the Donate page.
Further reading and independent checks
These independent sources can help you check the facts for yourself. PHWO is not connected with them, and linking to them does not mean they endorse PHWO.
