London is full of mosques, Islamic charities and Ramadan appeals, so for many donors the question is rarely whether to give — it is where your zakat will do the most good. If part of your heart is in Pakistan, this page explains how to send Zakat or Sadaqah from London to Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO), a volunteer-led welfare organisation whose only office is in Larkana, Sindh.
There is no PHWO branch in London, and no street collector or agent on Green Street, in Southall or anywhere else acts for it. You give directly from your own bank, and the money reaches families across Pakistan whose need has been checked. Everything PHWO offers those families is free.
Why some Londoners send their zakat to Pakistan
Many British Pakistanis in London already support relatives at home. Zakat is different: it belongs to people who are eligible under Shariah, and many donors prefer to give it where the gap between need and help is widest. PHWO receives requests from every province — ration, rent, school fees, medical bills, debt — and checks each one before help is arranged. No outcome is promised to anyone, and Zakat is kept apart from all other money.
Giving through an organisation also protects the dignity of the person helped: they do not have to ask a relative abroad, and you do not have to judge a stranger’s story from a forwarded message.
Paying from a London bank in pounds
High-street banks in London, and most app-based banks, let you send an international payment to a Pakistani bank account. Use the account details shown on PHWO’s Donate page, and nowhere else. The money arrives in rupees: your bank, or the partner bank it uses, changes your sterling at its own rate and may add a fee, and both differ from bank to bank.
If a family member in Pakistan holds a Pakistani bank account, they can also send your gift locally on your behalf. Please make sure the confirmation names you as the donor.
Ramadan in London and timing your gift
Londoners often give in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and many mosques announce a Zakat al-Fitr amount per person each year. Fitrana bound for Pakistan needs a head start: a transfer abroad can take several working days to clear, and Fitrana should reach people before Eid prayer. Unsure whether you are above the threshold this year? Our nisab guide for sterling and dollars shows the method, and the Zakat calculator adds up savings, gold and stock.
What your gift supports in Pakistan
Your gift can back any of the aims in PHWO’s constitution (all listed under Programmes), from education, health, women’s empowerment, digital and freelancing skills, poverty relief and emergency relief. Untied gifts are directed to whichever programme needs them most, and Zakat reaches eligible people only. Before giving, Londoners can look through how money is used and what PHWO publishes on transparency.

Want to give something other than money? Ways to give covers equipment, vehicles, waqf and legacies. If you know a family in Pakistan who needs help, they can request help online or ask for free legal aid, both free. You can check what PHWO publishes on transparency, and when you are ready, give through the Donate page.
