Where the Indus Meets the Kabul: Finding an NGO in Attock That Answers

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Attock sits at Punjab’s north-western door. The Indus and the Kabul rivers meet just beyond the old Attock Fort, the Grand Trunk Road crosses into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the district runs south into the dry, rolling country of Jand and Pindi Gheb. Families here look for an NGO in Attock for all sorts of reasons: a failed barani crop, a hospital bill in Rawalpindi, school fees, or a court case they cannot afford.

Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO) runs on volunteers, answers people from every province and never charges them. It has no office, camp or field staff in Attock district. The only head office is in Larkana, Sindh; people in Attock reach it online, through Message PHWO in a free PHWO account, or by email to info@phwo.org .

Six tehsils, many different lives

The 2023 Census counted 2,170,423 people in Attock District, compared with 1,886,378 in 2017. Only about 29% live in towns. The district has six tehsils: Attock, Fateh Jang, Hasan Abdal, Hazro, Jand and Pindi Gheb, and they are quite different from one another.

  • Hazro and the Chhachh plain have fertile irrigated land and many families with men working in the Gulf.
  • Hasan Abdal is home to Gurdwara Panja Sahib and a busy stretch of the motorway and G.T. Road.
  • Fateh Jang is growing fast because it is close to Islamabad.
  • Jand and Pindi Gheb are rain-fed, with scattered villages, long distances to hospitals, and oil and gas fields that employ relatively few local people.

Water, distance and jobs

Much of southern Attock is part of the Potohar plateau, where farming depends on rain. When the monsoon is weak, wheat and groundnut fail and wells run low. Villages in Jand and Pindi Gheb are often far from a tehsil hospital, so a serious illness means a long, costly trip to Attock city or Rawalpindi. Young men leave for army service, the Gulf or daily work in Islamabad, and families at home rely on money that does not always arrive.

Asking PHWO for financial help in Attock

Send your request through Request help. Ask for food, the cost of treatment, fees, rent money, clearing a loan, a laptop, or whatever a disaster destroyed. PHWO asks for a live photo of yourself and a clear explanation of your need.

Each Attock request is checked for accuracy and then judged on need. Support is organised only if the need is genuine and within reach. PHWO does not promise any outcome or any date, and it never charges a fee.

Free legal aid in Attock

Attock city holds the district and sessions courts, and each of the six tehsils has its own civil and family judges. Appeals from Attock are heard at the Rawalpindi Bench. Common problems include family and inheritance disputes, maintenance claims, and land cases where records are old or unclear.

On the free legal aid page you can set out your problem for PHWO’s volunteer advocates. An FIR is not needed to ask. Anything about custody, or a hearing in Attock or Fateh Jang within days, gets read first. Whether a lawyer can be found depends on availability, so it cannot be guaranteed.

Donations of money or goods can be made on the Donate page from Pakistan or overseas. Zakat and Sadaqah are passed fully to people in need. Calculate what you owe on the Zakat calculator, or adopt one checked household through Sponsor a case.

For young people in Attock

Students in Attock often need a laptop, a fee payment or help to learn a skill that pays. Education, digital skills and hands-on trades are three of the eight programmes PHWO lists. An Attock student who wants a laptop should name the course and describe the use it will be put to. As always, requests are verified and assessed and nothing is guaranteed.

Young women in Hazro, Fateh Jang or the villages of Pindi Gheb who want to learn a trade from home, such as tailoring, graphic design or bookkeeping, can mention this too. Say what you already know, what equipment you lack and how the skill would help your family earn.

Rishta Desk

The Rishta Desk is free for Attock, Hazro and Jand families of every religion. Each profile is checked with a live selfie and reviewed by PHWO staff. Choices stay with the two families, and nothing is promised.
