NGO in Mianwali: Welfare and Legal Help from the Indus Bank to the Thal

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Mianwali stands on the eastern bank of the Indus, with the Salt Range to the north and the sands of the Thal to the south. It is a district of strong family ties, where Saraiki, Pashto and Punjabi mix, and where many men work far away in Karachi, the Gulf or the armed forces. When families here search for an NGO in Mianwali, it is often because a breadwinner has fallen ill, a crop has failed or a court case has become too expensive.

Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization, known as PHWO, is a volunteer body; people from any province can write to it, and it never bills them. You will not find a PHWO building, camp or agent in Mianwali, Isakhel or Piplan. Its only office is in Larkana, Sindh, and families here reach it through the website or Message PHWO in a free PHWO account.

Mianwali's people and languages

According to the 2023 Census, Mianwali District has 1,798,268 residents, and only about one in five (20.2%) lives in a town. The census lists three tehsils: Mianwali, Isakhel and Piplan. Its mother-tongue table shows a mix unlike most of Punjab: Saraiki for roughly 74% of people, Pashto for about 11%, and Punjabi for about 8%.

Isakhel and Kalabagh sit close to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, while Piplan and the southern villages open onto the Thal desert. The Chashma barrage and power plants bring some jobs, but most families rely on farming, livestock, government service and money sent home.

Everyday difficulties in the district

Thal villages depend on rain and tube wells, and sandy soil gives thin harvests of gram and wheat. Distances are long, so reaching the DHQ in Mianwali city or a specialist in Rawalpindi or Lahore costs a family time and fares they can barely manage. In the riverine belt, the Indus can cut into farmland in a high-water year. Unemployment among educated young people is another steady worry: degrees are common, jobs are not.

Asking for financial help in Mianwali

Anyone in the district can send a request on the Request help page. Families write in about groceries, treatment, university or school dues, overdue rent, loans, a laptop for studies or freelancing, and damage from calamities. PHWO asks for a live photo of you and for you to explain your situation.

Each form is first checked for truth, then weighed for need. Support follows only where a checked need can actually be met. Nobody can promise a result or a deadline, and you pay nothing.

Free legal aid for Mianwali cases

The district and sessions courts are in Mianwali city, with civil and family courts at Isakhel and Piplan. Appeals go to the Lahore High Court. Land and inheritance quarrels between relatives, family disputes and maintenance are frequent reasons people need a lawyer.

Mianwali litigants can set out their problem through free legal aid. No FIR is needed to ask. Custody matters and hearings coming soon are read first by volunteer advocates. A lawyer can only take a case when one is available, so representation is not guaranteed.

Where to go in Mianwali for public help

Government help in Mianwali is spread across a wide district. The District Headquarters Hospital Mianwali handles most serious cases, while Isakhel and Piplan each have a THQ hospital nearer to their villages. For a crash on the Indus Highway or a fire, ring Rescue 1122; for crime, 15; for a woman in danger, the 1043 helpline. Kafaalat payments come through the BISP office in each tehsil. Mianwali also has its own District Zakat Committee within the provincial Zakat system, and the District Bar Association Mianwali can suggest advocates.

Educated but without work? Skills and laptops

Many young people in Mianwali finish a BA or a master’s degree and still cannot find a job. Some turn to freelancing, graphic design or online teaching, but need a laptop and a steady internet connection. A student or graduate can request a laptop through the request form; explain what you studied and how you plan to earn or learn with it. Digital skills and trade training both sit within PHWO’s eight programmes. Requests are verified and assessed, and nothing is guaranteed.

Supporting Mianwali: volunteer or donate

Men from Mianwali working in Karachi, the Gulf or the forces often want to help people from their own villages. Donations of money or goods are accepted on the Donate page from Pakistan and abroad. Zakat and Sadaqah pass whole, with nothing deducted, to families who qualify. Find your Zakat figure with the Zakat calculator; to help one checked Mianwali household directly, go to Sponsor a case.

If you are an advocate in Mianwali or a fundraiser in Pakistan or overseas, sign up on the volunteer page. These are the volunteers needed most. Each receives a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.

Rishta Desk

Families in Mianwali can use the free Rishta Desk, which is open to every faith. Profiles are checked with a live selfie and reviewed by PHWO staff. The decision always belongs to the two families, and no match is assured.

Frequently asked questions

Can I meet someone from PHWO in Mianwali city?

No. There is no PHWO office or worker in Mianwali. The only office is in Larkana, Sindh. Contact PHWO by messaging PHWO from a free PHWO account, at info@phwo.org or through the website.

My Urdu is weak. Is it all right to explain my situation in Saraiki?

Yes. Saraiki, Pashto, Punjabi or Urdu are all fine. What matters is that your situation is clear. Mention your village and tehsil, what has gone wrong, and what kind of help would make the biggest difference, so the volunteer reading it understands your circumstances without needing to call back several times.

My son has a degree but no job. Can he ask for a laptop to start freelancing?

He can apply through the request form and explain his plan. The request will be verified and assessed; a laptop is not guaranteed.

Our land near Kalabagh is under dispute with cousins. Is free legal aid available?

You can describe the case on the legal aid form. Should a volunteer lawyer have time, the Kalabagh dispute will be studied.

Does PHWO charge anything for a request from Isakhel?

No. Isakhel residents pay nothing, and anyone demanding cash in PHWO's name is not genuine.
