Free help for families in Khushab

Help for Jauharabad, Quaidabad and Soon Valley from an NGO in Khushab

All PHWO services are free. Nobody may ask you for money in PHWO’s name. Β· Message PHWO Β· info@phwo.org

Khushab district stretches from the green, lake-dotted Soon Valley in the Salt Range down across the Jhelum river to the dry sands of Noorpur Thal. The district headquarters is Jauharabad, a planned town next to old Khushab city. With so much variety comes a wide range of hardship, and people in all four tehsils go looking for an NGO in Khushab when they cannot manage alone.

PHWO, full name Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization, relies on volunteers, answers families from every region and never takes a fee. It keeps no office, camp or worker in Khushab, Jauharabad, Quaidabad, Noorpur or Nowshera. Its only office is in Larkana, Sindh. People here contact it online, through Message PHWO in a free PHWO account, or by email to info@phwo.org .

Khushab district facts

The 2023 Census recorded 1,501,089 people in Khushab District, about 28% of them in towns. Its four tehsils are Khushab, Noorpur, Nowshera and Quaidabad. Khushab tehsil, which includes Jauharabad, is the most urban at around 44%. Noorpur, in the Thal, and Nowshera, in the Soon Valley hills, are mostly villages.

People earn from farming along the Jhelum, rain-fed farming and livestock in the hills and the desert, coal and salt mining in the Salt Range, the army and government service, and money sent from cities and abroad. Khushab is also famous for its dhodha sweet, and small sweet shops and roadside stalls along the Sargodha road support a good number of families, though their earnings rise and fall with the season.

Three landscapes, three kinds of hardship

Soon Valley is beautiful but steep and cut off; hill villages rely on rain, and jobs are few. The river belt around Khushab city and Quaidabad has better land but is exposed to the Jhelum in high-water years. Noorpur Thal is sandy and dry, with long journeys to any hospital and thin harvests of gram. Across all three, men who work in mines and quarries face injuries and lung illness, and a family can lose its income overnight.

Financial help in Khushab

You can ask PHWO for support through Request help. Khushab families mostly write about food, medicine and operations, school or college dues, rent, loans, study laptops and disaster losses. The form asks for a live photo of yourself and for you to explain what has happened.

Volunteers check every request, then weigh it. Something is arranged only when the need holds up and can be met. No date or result is promised, and the form costs nothing.

Free legal aid for families in Khushab

Jauharabad hosts the sessions court for the district, and the tehsil towns have their own civil and family judges. Higher appeals are heard in Lahore. Family cases, inheritance of hill land and disputes over water and boundaries are common reasons people need a lawyer.

Describe your matter on the free legal aid page. An FIR is not required. A custody fight or a Jauharabad date later this week goes to the front. Representation depends on whether a lawyer is available, so it is not guaranteed.

Public services in Khushab district

The government’s own services are spread between Jauharabad and the tehsil towns. District Headquarters Hospital Jauharabad takes serious cases, and each tehsil has a THQ hospital. On the winding Soon Valley roads and the Khushab-Sargodha highway, Rescue 1122 responds to crashes and fires. Call 15 for the police; 1043 is the helpline for women at risk. If you are on the Kafaalat list, BISP pays you. State Zakat is the job of the District Zakat Committee Khushab. Names of lawyers can be had from the District Bar Association Khushab in Jauharabad.

Mine workers and their families

If you or a family member was hurt in a coal mine or quarry and cannot work, you can ask for help with treatment or with household costs while you recover. Attach the medical papers and, if possible, a letter from the mine or contractor confirming your work. If a worker has died, the widow or parents can apply for the family. Requests are verified and assessed, and help depends on whether the need can be met.

Children of mine workers are often the first to leave school when money stops. If that is happening in your home, mention it. School fees, uniforms and books can be part of the same request, and a student in college can ask for a laptop. Be specific about the class, the school and the amount due.

How people from Khushab can give back

Many Khushab families have sons in the army, in Lahore or in the Gulf. If you want to support your district, you can give money or goods on the Donate page. Zakat and Sadaqah are spent entirely on eligible families. Your Zakat can be calculated on the Zakat calculator, and Sponsor a case lets you take on the cost of one checked household, perhaps from your own tehsil.

The two kinds of help PHWO lacks most are legal skill and fundraising, from Khushab or from overseas. Advocates at Jauharabad, teachers and retired servicemen are all welcome on the volunteer page. Volunteers receive a certificate, a letter of appreciation and an experience letter.

Rishta Desk

Khushab families can use the free Rishta Desk, open to every faith. Every profile is checked with a live selfie and reviewed by PHWO staff. Families decide everything themselves; a match cannot be assured.
