Millions of Pakistanis live abroad, and many of them β€” along with friends of Pakistan of every background β€” want their Zakat, Sadaqah or Ramadan gifts to reach families at home. If you want to donate to Pakistan from abroad, this page brings together PHWO’s guides: city pages for donors in the UK and the United States, country guides, and plain explanations of Zakat, Sadaqah and Fitrana for people giving in pounds, dollars and other currencies.

Peace and Humanity Welfare Organization (PHWO) is a Pakistani, volunteer-led welfare organisation. It operates from one office in Larkana, Sindh; outside Pakistan it has no branch, no office and no collectors. You give directly from your own bank through the official Donate page, and every service PHWO gives families in need is free.

How giving from abroad works

Giving from outside Pakistan takes four steps. Choose your gift on the Donate page β€” Zakat, Sadaqah, a general donation or a specific programme. Send it from your own bank as an international payment to PHWO’s account in Pakistan, using only the details shown on that page. Upload the confirmation or write the transaction reference. Once the transfer is matched with the bank record, a numbered receipt is emailed to you.

PHWO receives rupees, so your bank converts your currency. Rates and fees vary between banks; ask about both before you send. PHWO does not take card or PayPal payments at present.

Zakat, Sadaqah and goods

Zakat is kept separate from all other money and given only to people eligible under Shariah; none of it pays for running costs. Sadaqah is also handed over in full to people in need. A general donation supports our programmes where the need is greatest. Goods such as ration, clothes, books and medicines are received at the Larkana office; equipment, vehicles, property, waqf and legacies are explained on Ways to give.

Being honest about tax and registration

PHWO is a Pakistani organisation. It is not a UK-registered charity or a US 501(c)(3), so donations to PHWO are not tax-deductible in the UK or the US, and Gift Aid does not apply. Its registration under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961 is in process. While it is, donations are received in the name of the organisation’s founding member and recorded against your donation reference, as the Donate page explains. The transparency page sets out what exists and what does not.

What your gift supports

PHWO’s eight aims are set out on Programmes: education, health, women’s empowerment, vocational training, digital and freelancing skills, poverty relief, environment and emergency relief. Each request for help is checked before help is arranged, and no outcome is promised in advance. Read where your money goes before you give.

Helping without giving money

Overseas supporters can volunteer online from anywhere in the world β€” as fundraisers, teachers, designers, developers or advisers β€” and receive a certificate and a letter of appreciation. Fundraisers should always point people to the official Donate page and never collect cash in PHWO’s name.

Families in Pakistan can ask for help free of charge, and Free Online Classes are open to students across the country. Read Transparency before you give, use the zakat calculator, then give on the Donate page.
